Acids and bases
Acids have a very sour taste and citrus fruits contain citric acid. You know when something is an acid because a metal will always make hydrogen gas. More properties of acids have electrolytes, react with bases to form salt and water, its ph scale is 7 and under. When naming Acids there are three different types.
1 When anion ends in "ide" then the name of the acid is hydro______ic acid
2 When it ends in "ate" then the name of the acid is ______ic acid
3 When it ends in "ite" then the name is _______ous acid
Bases have a bitter taste and are slippery like soap because soap contain many bases. More properties of bases include react with acids, ph scale is more than 7. Common bases that are found are NaOH (sodium hydroxide), BA(OH)2 (barium hydroxide), and Mg(OH)2 (magnesium hydroxide).
